Getting Started
D2L Brightspace is Columbia College's learning management system where students, faculty, and staff access course materials, assignments, grades, and virtual class sessions. This article explains how to access D2L Brightspace through your myPortal dashboard.

Before You Begin
●You must have an active Columbia College myPortal account.
●Course links appear in the D2L widget approximately one week before the course start date. If your course has not yet appeared, check back closer to the start date.
●Shortcuts available in myPortal may vary depending on your student or employment status.
How to Access
Accessing D2L Brightspace
1 Access via the D2L Brightspace & My Classes Widget
The quickest way to access your courses is through the D2L Brightspace & My Classes widget on your myPortal dashboard.
●Log in to myPortal using your Columbia College credentials.
●Locate the D2L Brightspace & My Classes widget on your dashboard.
●Click the Visit D2L button to be taken to the D2L Brightspace My Home page.
2 Access via the Shortcuts Panel
Alternatively, you can access D2L Brightspace directly from the Shortcuts section on the left side of your myPortal dashboard.
●Look for the Shortcuts panel along the left side of your myPortal dashboard.
●Click the D2L Brightspace link to go directly to your D2L home page.
💡 Important Notes
Course Availability: Course links will appear in the widget approximately one week before the course start date. If your course is not yet visible, check back closer to the start date.
Shortcuts Vary: The shortcuts available in myPortal may differ depending on your student or employment status at Columbia College.
Missing Course? If your course does not appear after the start date, contact your academic advisor or submit an IT support ticket using the link below.
