How to - Registering Laptops, Phones, and Gaming Consoles on CougarNet

Applies to: Faculty Staff Students

Before You Begin (Prerequisites)

1 Connect to CougarNet and Sign In

Connect your device to the CougarNet Wi-Fi network using the pre-shared key (cc1851cc). Once connected, open a web browser and attempt to navigate to any web page (e.g., google.com). You will be automatically redirected to the CougarNet Portal.

●Enter your username and password (do not include @ccis.edu or @cougars.ccis.edu).

●Select Sign On.

2 Read and Accept the Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP)

Review the Columbia College Acceptable Usage Policy presented on screen.

●Read through the terms and conditions and select Accept to proceed.

3 Select Device Registration Option

You have the choice to connect your current device immediately or register additional personal devices (such as smart TVs or game consoles).

●To connect immediately: Select No, Skip Registration and proceed to Step 5.

●To add other devices: Select Yes, Register Devices and proceed to Step 4.

4 Register Additional Devices (Optional)

Enter the physical (MAC) address of any additional device you wish to add along with a brief description (no spaces or punctuation in description).

●Enter the Device ID (MAC address) and Device Description.

●Select Save, Continue.

*Note: The Manage Devices list shows your currently connected device and any previously registered devices. You may delete registered devices from this list except the one you are actively using.

5 Obtain Network Access and Complete Setup

Finalize your registration to gain full network access.

●Click Continue on the network access screen.

You have now completed the CougarNet portal device registration and will be redirected to your original browsing page, or you may close the portal window and begin browsing.
