When working from a home or off-campus network, Zoom Phone may detect that your location has changed and prompt you to update your emergency address. This ensures that 911 services can accurately locate you in the event of an emergency. This guide walks you through updating your emergency address directly from the Zoom desktop app.

⚠ Why Does This Happen?
When Zoom detects that you are not connected to the campus network, it will display a red icon in the top-right corner of the desktop app and prompt you to confirm or update your emergency address. This is a required safety feature for Zoom Phone users working remotely.
Step-by-Step Guide
Instructions
1 Sign In to the Zoom Desktop App
Open and sign in to the Zoom desktop application on your computer. Once signed in, look for the red icon in the top-right corner of the app — this indicates your emergency address needs to be updated.
2 Click the Red Icon and Select "Wrong, Update It"
Click the red icon in the top-right corner of the Zoom app. A prompt will appear asking you to confirm your current emergency address.
●Select "Wrong, update it" to proceed to the address update screen.
3 Click "Add a New Emergency Address"
A window will appear with a dropdown menu listing any previously saved emergency addresses, along with a link to add a new one.
●Click the "Add a New Emergency Address" link to enter your current home or remote location.
4 Fill In Your Current Emergency Address
Enter your personal emergency address for your current remote location. This should reflect where you are physically working — not the campus address.
●Complete all required address fields accurately to ensure emergency services can locate you if needed.
5 Select Your New Address and Save
Once your new address has been added, it will appear as a selectable option in the dropdown menu.
●Select your new address from the dropdown menu and click Save to confirm. The red icon should disappear, indicating your emergency address is now up to date.
