Integrity Advocate - Utilization and Support Services

Introduction

Integrity Advocate is a free online student exam proctoring service.
The proctor is embedded into some D2L exams and tests as requested by instructors.

How to Access and Use

Courses that utilize Integrity Advocate for any amount of exams or quizzes will have you run a practice Integrity Advocate quiz where you test your machine and get read the same rules that apply during the real Exams.

 

When selecting the exam or quiz that utilizes Integrity Advocate from the Content tab in your D2L course, the proctor service will begin to lock-down your browser.

If you have multiple monitors/screens connected to your computer, you will be prompted to disconnect one of them by turning it off.
Then the service will ask you to test your microphone and camera by taking a photo with your Student ID or Drivers License. 

Then the proctoring service will review all exam rules and policies, such as:

Rules:

Staying in view of the camera
Must not use collaborative applications
Do not communicate with others
Do not be in presence of others
Must not have an active AI application
No use of any smart devices, such as a phone or tablet
Do not use headphones
Must not use any external resources to aid in completing the activity
Must not leave full screen
Must not use an additional screen or monitor
Must be in a quiet environment
Refrain from shortcuts or functions

Then you will be required to select your screen to Share

Once the proctoring service has started you will need to start your exam.
Once you have submit the exam the proctoring service will stop recording and allow you to reconnect any devices or go on as you normally would.

If you contact Integrity Advocate support for any issues with your exam and you are unable to complete it by the exams deadline; you need to reach out to your instructor and inform them of the actions you've taken to resolve the issue.

You are required to complete the test on a computer or laptop that has access to a camera, microphone, and current Chrome or Edge browser.
You will not be able to take the exam on mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, or Androids.

FAQ and Troubleshooting

What operating systems/browsers support Integrity Lock?

Integrity Lock works on Google Chrome and Edge browsers and can be used on the following operating systems:

  1. Windows (10+)
  2. MacOS (10.11+)
  3. Linux
  4. Chromebooks

Not available on mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones or Androids, etc.

How do I allow browser permissions to use my camera and microphone in Chrome?

  1. Before launching the exam/assessment, click the lock icon inside the URL/Address bar and go to Site Settings

  2. Settings Tab will open. Make sure to Allow permission for Camera, Microphone, Flash, Pop-up and Redirects.

  3. Go back to the exam/assessment page. Below the URL/Address bar, there's a message that says reload your page. Click on the blue Reload button. Launch the exam/assessment

I am getting the message "You are using an insecure browser or operating system." What do I do?

This indicates you are using either an out-of-date browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Safari), and/or operating system (e.g., Windows 7, High Sierra).

Please update your operating system and/or change/update your browser to continue.
