Known issue:
In OnBase 24.1, Word documents now open in a separate window.
How to fix:
Viewing a Word Document
Word now opens in a separate window. In retrieval when you click on a document to open it for viewing, the viewer window opens but the document does not display there. An additional window opens that displays the Word Document. That window might open behind the viewer window or the Unity client but will be in the system tray.
After viewing the Word Doc in the Word window, do not close it first. Close the viewer Window first and then close the Word window.
Note: If you close the Word window first then when you try to close the viewer window, you will get a message asking if you want to save changes to the Word doc; click No and it will close.
Importing a Word Document
Word now opens in a separate window from the Preview window. After clicking Browse and selecting your Word Document, the Word Document will open in a separate window but will be listed at the top of the empty Preview window. The Unity Client may be hidden by the Word Document window; if so, you can minimize the Word Document window to see the Unity Client Import page and then click Import. Do not close the Word Document window before you click Import or you will not be able to import the document. (See example of error below.)
After you click Import, you will see the document load, the Preview Window will no longer list your document at the top, and a Viewer Window will open along with the Word Document window; the Viewer Window will be blank, and you should close it first and then the Word Document window. Note: If you close the Word window first then when you try to close the Viewer window, you will get a message asking if you want to save changes to the Word doc; click No and it will close.
Example of error if you close the Word Document window prior to clicking Import
Click Ok and then you will get a second message. Click Ignore and the message will disappear but if you click Import it will repeat. If you click Create Bug Report, it will allow you to create the report you but when you are finished it will repeat same messages. No way out of the loop except to click Cancel.
