OnBase Error - Unity Forms Throw Exception Errors and Don't Load Properly

Overview:

User receives various exception errors when trying to view Unity forms, but are able to view other document formats within Unity (PDF, DOC, etc). Errors include:

  • Uncaught Reference Error: ValidationType is not defined
  • Uncaught Reference Error: CalculatedRepeaterField is not defined
    • This error will only appear if there are calculated fields on the form
  • Uncaught Reference Error: Object Reference is not set to an instance of an object

If the errors are ignored, the form will display but the style set by the Form template will not apply and any textboxes/calculated fields will be empty, even if there should be data in them.

Troubleshooting:

  • Confirm whether the user is connected to the VPN or on a school network.
  • Confirm whether the user gets errors on multiple document formats or just Unity Forms
  • Have the user completely close Unity (including closing it in the System Tray) and re-open and confirm the error is still occurring.
    • When the user re-opens Unity, have them give you the OnBase Version Number, which can be found at the bottom of the login window and confirm that it is the current/correct version.  If it is not then they will need to install the current version via the software center.

If closing/re-opening Unity doesn't resolve:

  • Completely close Unity, including from the System Tray
  • Open File Explorer on the user's machine and navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Cache
  • Delete the folder named for the active OnBase build version
  • Re-open Unity and confirm this resolved the issue.

How to fix:

If the user continues to experience errors, assign ticket to the OnBase OnCall group.
