Forward CougarMail to another email account

Introduction

This article will help you get started with forwarding your CougarMail to Microsoft Outlook.

How to:

First, access your Google Cougarmail:

1. In the upper-right, click the Settings icon (Gear-shaped icon)
2. Click See all settings
3. Click Forwarding and Pop/IMAP tab
4. In the IMAP Access section, check Enable IMAP
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes
6.  In the upper-right, near the Settings gear, click your profile.
7.  Click Manage your Google Account
8.  On the left click Security
9.  Scroll to the section "Less secure app access"
10.  Click the Lock
11. Sign-in with your Cougarmail credentials.
12. Click the slider to On (this will auto-save for you)

You are now ready to add this account to other mail applications, such as Outlook.

Adding Cougarmail to Outlook

1.  Open Outlook
2.  Click File > Info > Add account (located just above the Account Settings button)
3.  On the next screen, choose "manual setup or additional server types"
4.  Choose POP or IMAP account
5.  Fill out the fields on the next screen.

a. Your Name: Enter your name
b. Email address: Enter Cougarmail Address
c. Account type: IMAP
d. Incoming mail server: imap.Gmail.com
e. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.Gmail.com
f. Username: Full Cougarmail address
g. Password: Current Cougarmail password
h. Check Remember password (be aware if you change your password for CougarTrack it will change our Cougarmail password)
i. Click More Settings...
j. In the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box, click the Outgoing Server tab
k. Check the box, My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
l. Check Use same settings as my incoming mail server
m. Click the Advanced tab
n. Fill out the form with the following details:

    Incoming server (IMAP): 993
    Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
    Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
    Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
o. Click OK
p. Click Next

It should test the email settings.

6. Click Finish.

Be aware, if you are adding Cougarmail to Outlook at your job, your employer may not allow external mail. You will need to check with your email administrator.
