Microsoft Outlook - Mobile Device Setup (Exchange Account)

Overview

User would like to install the Outlook application on their mobile device and add their Columbia College email.

 

How to:

NOTE: The user must have a lock screen enabled on any mobile device that will use CC Exchange email.

 

In Addition, note that the Solution Center and Technology Services at Columbia College does not support or update the mobile Outlook or Gmail applications. If you are experiencing trouble you will need to reach out to Microsoft or the Google help desk to receive further help.

 

iPhone:

1. Tap Settings

2. Tap Passwords & Accounts

3. Tap Add Account

4. Tap Exchange

5. Enter the email address: Ex. username@ccis.edu

6. Enter a description if preferred. Ex. Work email, CC mail, etc.

7. In the upper right, tap Next

8. Tap Sign In

9. Enter the myPortal password

10. Make setting changes as desired

11. Tap Save

 

Additional information may be needed:

Server: mymail.ccis.edu

Domain: ccis.edu

User secure connection (SSL)

Accept all SSL certificates

 

Android:

 

1. Tap Settings

2. Tap Add Accounts

3. Tap Email Account

4. Tap Exchange, or Microsoft Exchange Active Sync

5. Enter the email address: Ex. username@ccis.edu

6. Enter the myPortal password, tap Next

7. Change your settings as desired, tap Next

 

Additional information may be needed:

Server address: mymail.ccis.edu

Domain: ccis.edu

Use secure connection (SSL)

Accept all SSL Certificates, tap Next

The Activate device administrator window will appear, tap Activate.

8. Tap Done

 

If the Android user uses the Gmail app:

1. Open Gmail app

2. Tap menu (or swipe to the right to open the menu)

3. Tap Settings

4. Tap Add Account

5. Select Exchange, tap Next

6. Enter the email address: Ex. username@ccis.edu, tap Next

7. Enter myPortal password, tap Next

8. Enter Server: mymail.ccis.edu

9. Select Use secure connection (SSL), accept all SSL Certs

10. Tap Next.

Remote security administration window will appear, tap OK.

11. Tap Activate.

 

 

iPhones with IOS 10 and Before:

1. Scroll thru apps and find the app called Settings

4. Tap Settings to open

5. Scroll down till you find Mail, Contacts, Calendars

6. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars to open

7. Tap Add Account

8. Tap Microsoft Exchange

9. Enter users email address ex. johndoe@ccis.edu

10. Set domain to ccis

11. The user name will be the users myPortal user name without @ccis.edu (NOTE:  If this does not work, please use the entire email as the username. )

12. Enter your myPortal password

13. Description can be named whatever, this is the name that will display on the phone only for the mail box.

14. Once this information has been entered hit the next button in the top right corner

15. It will go through a verification process and bring up another screen almost like the screen you where just on

16. Enter mymail.ccis.edu into the server box and hit next again

17. You will be able to choose what you want to sync at this point, Email, Contacts and Calendar, simply turn on or off what you want to sync

18. Login PIN must be created for access

19. Check to ensure emails have been directed to the mobile device
