Body

Problem Description:

Cannot open Outlook on PC

Problem Resolution:

Creating a new profile can help resolve the issue:

1. Navigate to the Control Panel (Type "Control Panel" in the Search Windows box in the taskbar)

2. Click Mail (32-bit)

3. In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, select Show Profiles...

4. Highlight the listed profile, click Remove

5. Click Add...

6. In the New Profile dialog box, type a new profile name. (Ex. Outlook2, Exchange) Anything other than what was listed before.

7. Click OK.

8. Click Next

9. Click Finish (the new profile has been built)

10. Click OK

11. Open Outlook

It will take some time for the email and calendar entries to repopulate. As a short-term workaround, you can use Outlook webmail in CougarTrack or in an internet browser, navigate to https://webmail.ccis.edu.

If you still cannot open Outlook, you will need to clear the .ost file:

Before you begin you will need to make sure Outlook  is closed.

To access and delete this .ost file.

1. In the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen, click File Manager (the Folder shaped icon)

2. Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

3. Delete .ost file. When Outlook is opened, it will recreate an .ost file for the user.

AppData is a hidden folder, if you do not see it listed, you will need to make it visible.

1. At the top of the window, click View

2. In the Show/Hide section, check File name extensions and Hidden items
