Microsoft Outlook - Opening Shared Folder from Another Mailbox

Overview

You can open another mailboxes Tasks, Calendar, Contacts, Journal, Notes, or Inbox folder (provided you have access) by simply clicking File and opening that specific folder.  The steps below will outline how to open a different folder on a different mailbox.

 

How to:

  1. Open Outlook, go to “File” in the top right, choose the option “Open & Export” in the left pane
  2. From there, choose the option “Other User’s Folder” on the right.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Type in the name of the mailbox (ex. Mailbox.ccis.edu), and then choose the type of folder to open.
    • You can open another mailboxes Calendar, Contacts, Inbox, Journal, Notes, or Tasks folder.
  4. After you do that, that new folder should show up int its respective area.
    • For instance, if you opened a calendar, it will show up in your calendar area on the bottom right of Outlook in the Folder Pane.
    • This only works if you have the correct permissions for the mailbox.
    • If your able to see the mailbox in your Inbox folder, you should have the correct permissions.
