4 Verify Destination Fax Line & Troubleshoot Delivery

If a fax fails to send or encounters delivery errors, verify the recipient line by placing a voice test call.

●Call the recipient fax number directly from a telephone or Zoom Phone.

●Valid Fax Line: You should hear high-pitched fax tones (beeping or screeching sounds).

●Invalid / Misconfigured Line: If you hear a normal voice dial tone, fast busy signal, or automated error message, the destination number may be incorrect or not set up to receive faxes.

Important Note on “Invalid Recipient Number”

If Zoom returns an “invalid recipient number” error, the failure occurs before dialing out. Verifying the destination line with a phone call confirms whether the digits were formatted or keyed in correctly.
