Microsoft Outlook - Favoriting Objects in Public Folders

Overview

You can navigate through Outlook and view public folders that you have access to in our organization.  Some of the folders will have calendars and contacts in them; sometimes that’s the only place to find those calendars and contacts.  You may need to favorite a calendar to get it to show up in your calendar view in Outlook.  To favorite something, just follow these instructions.

How to:

  1. Open the folder view on Outlook by clicking the folder icon on the bottom left of the folder pane.  You may have to click the 3 dots (or the 4 squares inside a square icon on newer versions) to expand your options, then choose “Folders”. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Once you do that, scroll down to the bottom of the Folder pane and expand your public folders
    1. Find which public folder you need, for this example we will use CC GlobalUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. In each public folder you should see different objects like contacts, calendars, and documents.
    1. Right click the one you want and choose “Add to Favorites…”, then hit “Add”Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
    2. If you do this with a contact or a calendar, you can then see that object in their respective areas.  For instance, right clicking a calendar makes it show in your calendar view.
  4. If you don’t see a calendar or contact after you do that, try removing it from Favorites, which is down at the bottom of the list for public folders.  Simply right click it and hit “Delete”, then add it to favorites again. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
