Getting Started with Microsoft Copilot Chat

Copilot chat is available as part of our Microsoft agreement for Students, Faculty and Staff. There are 2 ways to get to Copilot chat which are outlined in this article.

Introduction

Microsoft Copilot Chat is included as part of our Microsoft agreement for students, faculty and staff. There are two ways to access Copilot Chat - through a web browser and from the Copilot app on your Windows computer. 

How to Access

Method 1: Access through a Web browser

  1. Open an up-to-date browser (ex: Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Safari, etc.)
     
  2. Visit: Microsoft Copilot: Your AI companion

  3. Select Continue with Microsoft

  4. Sign in using your myPortal login ID (ex: jmdoe123@ccis.edu) and password

  5. This is how you can utilize the version of Copilot that comes with your student or staff Microsoft licensing, or if your department utilizes the paid for add-on, you will be able to access this here as well. Method 2: Access using the Microsoft Copilot App on your Columbia College device

  1. Search for Copilot in the start menu

  2. If it prompts for sign in, sign in using your myPortal credentials (Ex: jmdoe123@ccis.edu & myPortal password)
     
  3. You should be auto-signed in if you utilize any other Microsoft applications on your CC Work Device
